2020 is an unusual year for people from all over the world because of highly contagious Coronavirus (COVID-19). Wuhan,  the most infectious city in China, attracted the global’s attention. In order to meet the treatment of a rapidly increasing number of patients, China spent only 10 days  constructing Wuhan Makeshift hospital, covering 50,000 square meters,the size of seven football fields. During 10 days, there were more than 7,000 workers and over 800 excavators, bulldozers and other equipment operating simultaneously on the construction site.

The key factor for fast build benefits from easy installation and convenient moving of flat pack shipping containers . The container hospital took only 3 day to complete installation of thousands of flat pack containers, 7 days to finish other facilities such as water supply, power supply,drainage,fireproof,waterproof, lighting and ventilation,air conditioning system, gas purification, sewage treatment ,Huawei 5G network facilities and so on.

Compared with concrete building or wood building, flat pack house really has its obvious advantages for large emergency medical project. As we know, the Makeshift Hospital needed to build a large number of container rooms for patients and it is impossible for one manufacture to supply thousands of flat pack containers at such a short time. But the flat pack house adopts standard modular design, which makes it available to combine with others to expand space according to the installation drawing even if thousands of them came from different factories. Due to its simple structure,  4 workers could fast assemble 1 unit in 2 hours. In order to accelerate the construction process, all prefabricated kits wereready made in the factory and their interior was  completely decorated.Transported and installed outside theconstruction site, the finished flat pack containers were moved and combined together by cranes. After installation, they only needed external power supply and built in air conditioning, electricity, lighting, desks and chairs,which allowed them to put to use immediately.

When the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is over, all flat pack container house can be detachable and used in other projects. With high quality of light weight steel structure, they still can reach 20-year life span under the condition of repeatedly disassembly and assembly.
